As an Air Modelling Consultant, you will be responsible for:
- Site assessment, identification of air quality constraints and meteorological and climatic assessment.
- Estimation of air pollutant emission rates, stack discharge conditions, plume buoyancy and plume rise.
- Utilising in-house tools and prognostic meteorological models to generate meteorological data for dispersion modelling purposes.
- Research and literature review.
- Dispersion modelling using any or a combination of the following models: Ausplume, ISC, Caline, TAPM, Calpuff/Calmet.
- Analysis of results and report writing.
- Time management and costs control.
In addition, Senior Consultants will also be responsible for:
- Research new and developing topic areas whilst maintaining expert knowledge in selected topic areas including but not limited to: odour, dust, health risk assessment, tall stack dispersion, advanced dispersion modelling, emissions estimation, regulatory requirements, industrial pollution control, traffic emissions estimation, traffic dispersion models, air toxics.
- Timely delivery of tasks and projects.
- Provide support, training and supervision of technical staff and contractors.
- Maintain a detailed working knowledge of current Australian state and federal government legislation and policies.
- Strategic market assessment and business development with the goal of maximizing the firm's profits ensuring the company’s client’s are satisfied.
We may also consider experienced Environmental Project Managers, who do not have technical modelling expertise.
As a Meteorologist, you will be responsible for:
- Skilful analysis and interpretation of meteorological data.
- Presentation of forecast products for reporting using in-house tools and/or industry related packages such as NCL,GEMPACK, IDV or equivalent.
- Working with a team to publish forecasts products to the web.
- Knowledge of HTML or PERL advantageous.
- Preparation of technical reports relating to climate, meteorology, model evaluation and forecasting.
- Familiarity or experience with the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) modelling suite.
- Proficient in the Unix/Linux environment.
- Experience in a High Performance Computing (HPC) environment advantageous.
- Experience in the evaluation of numerical weather prediction (NWP) model performance.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to perform under pressure to deliver forecasts and forecast products in a timely manner.
- Willingness to be an innovator and develop products or applications that are advantageous to our clients and our business.
